Back in March, we decided to get baby chicks (our 2 adult chicks stopped laying). We picked up 12 babies from Lattin's and they've all be healthy and happy. They started in the basement but are outside now and doing well! It's been a fun project. Now we wait and see how many roosters we got (it's about a 10% chance) and wait and wait for them to begin laying (Fall?)

Chickens
It's been a while since I've done a chicken update... Well, round #3 of chickens has been interesting! Adam build a great enclosed area so we don't have to worry about predators as much and we're not letting them out in the yard. We started with 12 baby chicks and 5 of them turned out to be roosters! (It's supposed to be a 10% chance). We decided to keep 1 rooster, so now we have 6 hens and a rooster and the hens have been laying! We're consistently getting 3 eggs a day!
Weekend Fun
We had a fun weekend hanging around Olympia this weekend! Friday night we had dinner at Greg's house, Saturday Isla and I scoped-out a new swimming/splash pad option in Centralia then went swimming at our friend's pool (the pool he's working at this summer). Sunday we hit Tolmie State Park with Callie's family and we also (nearly) finalized the outdoor chicken-run to give the chickens more space. Plus we had a few people over last night for the Game of Thrones. Busy weekend!

Our chickens are getting so big! Adam moved them to the box in their coop last weekend and they settled right in! Isla was enjoying the Japanese Garden downtown- which quickly filled up with high schoolers getting prom photos- Isla called them "princesses".
Weekend.
We had a productive weekend! Adam built a fence around our garden so we can keep the dog and chickens out! Isla had a play date to the park with Finn and Weston and then we went to a baby shower for my friend Tamera on Sunday. Isla is standing and pulling up now and it's all she wants to do!
