February 2021 Snow Storm

Just when the crocuses started to bloom.... we got hit with so much snow!  The kids had a blast and it was gone in a few days.  It's the first time we were able to really go sledding on our property.  Poor Hannah had an ice storm down in Salem (no fun) and then lost power for 10 days!  We were fortunate to not have any snow related issues and just got to have fun!

2021 Baking Challenge: January

I know I need to rein it in a little bit, and I will, but baking is getting me through these dark, cold winter months and my new cookbook is presenting itself as a challenge to learn some new recipes.  My new years resolution is to bake something new each month. I tried 4 new recipes in January:

English muffins

Cannolis

Coffee-Coffee cake

Chocolate wave cake

December Baking

It started with a new baking book.... Adam got it for me for Hanukkah and since I had 2 weeks off of work, plus lots of things to celebrate, I tried about a bunch of new recipes!  My go-to is Smitten Kitchen so it was nice to have a new inspiration.  We both like Claire Saffitz and have watched most of her youtube videos through the BA test kitchen.  Anyways, I've been baking a lot and decided my 2021 new years resolution is to bake something new per month.  December I tried about 10 new recipes and some old ones....

Challah

sourdough

lemon meringue tart

stuffed bread

Palmiers

Raspberry swirl chocolate cheesecake

Pecan Sticky Buns

Meringue cookies

Brown butter sage sable cookies

Fancy Brioche Pigs in a blanket

Brioche Cinnamon Twists
