One thing that has been strange/uncomfortable about Hong Kong culture is all the "helpers" that are employed here- especially in the "rich" areas such as the one we work. We see these women (mostly Filipino) every morning and evening walking the family they work for dogs and tending to their employer's children. Where we work there are 2 helpers who are from India and both have children of their own that they rarely see. They are responsible for cooking and serving all the meals, keeping the house clean and watching the kids. Helpers are all supposed to get Sundays off (their one day off a week) and because they live with their employeers, they don't have houses to be at on Sundays. So you see large groups of women gathering in public places (picnicking, laughing, taking pictures, etc).
