The bus is my preferred mode of travel in Hong Kong. (Almost) always a seat, good views, air conditioning and it's usually more direct than the MTR (since there isn't a stop in my neighborhood). I take 2 buses to work in the morning and 1 on the way back. I spend about $3.30 a day on the bus! My commute is roughly an hour to an hour and a half. Most of the buses are double-decker which is fun and the front/top seats are the best (see above) but that also makes you look like a tourist to sit there so after a month or two in Hong Kong I stopped taking those seats. The octopus card makes taking the bus easy- just a beep of your card as you get on.
