Easter 2014: Easter Beer Hunt in Yakima!

Who knew Yakima could be so much fun?  We had a great time at Sean's family's annual Easter Beer Hunt!  They have an amazing piece of property in Yakima with an even more amazingly decorated barn!   Ezra enjoyed her first camping trip and running around with a bunch of other dogs! Festivities included hiding eggs and goodies (divided into zones: kid friend and adults only), searching for goodies (things went so FAST, I only found 1 thing), an amazing buffet, croquet and lots of fun outfits.

New Farm and Garden Store

Hooray for the new store "Eastside Urban Farm and Garden" in Olympia!  We needed a store like this and it's so close.  Especially since it looks like we are adopting three chickens real soon!  It was hard not to take home a baby duck!

Game of Thrones Feast

The episode was called "The Lion and the Rose" so we had wine to match

Greg made some amazing "pigeon pies" from his Game of Thrones cookbook.  We had dinner and watched Episode 2 of Season 4 (it was eventful).  Good times!

Dog Pen is Finished!

What a difference it has been having a pen to put Ezra in when we are at work, need a break or when she is wide awake at 7:00am!  Thank you Adam for putting so much work into the pen.  Next up, finish the fence!  We now have almost ALL of the posts in place and are waiting for a nice day when we both have free time to pour concrete....

Playdate with Finn

I got to babysit Finn last weekend on such a nice day!  We got to walk all around the property and play with sticks and rocks!  He was so good for me, even fell asleep at nap time in about 5 minutes!  He's not so sure about Ezra yet.... but really liked playing outside!

Backyard Creek Project

We have been having so much fun in our backyard!  When we bought the place we were under the assumption that most of the property in the back was unusalable wetland/swamp.  It was so covered in blackberries and debris that we couldn't really check it out.  We put on rubber boots and tried to tromp around and we started to see some potential if you could just make it over the swampy part.  Slowly we've been clearing brush and blackberries.  Here are some before pictures:

Come to find out the "swamp" is actually running water, more like a creek.  We don't know if it'll stay wet over the summer, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.  We've been clearing it out and even digging out a bit of a pond- which is actually attracting ducks and frogs.  Adam built a bridge over the water and we've been clearing some trails on the other side.  Here are some after photos:

There is much, much, much more work to be done, but it is exciting to be blazing trails on your own property and encouraging wildlife.  We're also finding garbage like old tires and things that we need to deal with.  I'm loving the way these skunk cabbage look right now.  Hoping for some more sunny days soon!

Happy 1 Month Birthday Sadie!!!

So cute!

Minutes after coming out!

In honor of Sadie's 1 month birthday today, I thought I'd share some photos from the day she was born.  Can't believe it's already been a month!  Can't wait to see again soon!
