wandering through the market

I love all the windy, skinny alleys in Hong Kong.  I took this yesterday while attempting to shop for Christmas presents (or at least get ideas)... I am finding the task super overwhelming for some reason and kind of wish there were just Targets in Hong Kong.  The malls are too up-scale and you're supposed to haggle at the markets...  If anyone has any Christmas present requests (things from Hong Kong) please let me know!

Learning Geography

Angela showed me this great free website that has geography games.  Check it out, I've "mastered" Asia and am working my way through Europe right now.

monday

These pictures are not from today.  Today was cold and windy.  (Not rainy, but the weather has shifted).  I am very thankful for having an apartment with a bath tub (even though it is a mini-bathtub, but it works).  Anyways, today was uneventful except it was the coldest day yet, which was kind of nice.

Jesus Rally

I got excited when I came home today to see that the entire street in front of my apartment was closed off for some sort of event, until I realized it was a rally for Jesus.  I can hear singing from my apartment right now.

Hong Kong Wetland Park

Today I went to the Wetland Park, which is pretty crowded and sort of theme-park like.  Not super very serene, but I did see some fish, birds and weird amphibian creatures.   Plus the park is about an hour outside of the city by train, so it was nice to breathe some fresh air and get out of the city crowds for the afternoon.

Hanging out at the mall....

The new (and only) apple store in Hong Kong, apparently this is a BIG deal.  People waited in line for hours (or days?) to get in when it opened.

I don't think I've mentioned how into malls Hong Kongers are.  There are malls everywhere and you are often "forced" into malls just to get from point A to B.  The malls are alive and thriving and (now) decorated for Christmas.  I had  relaxing day today, did some shopping and saw a movie at the mall.  I watched 50/50 which is set in Seattle, so that made it pretty fun to see.  Good movie.

A walk after work

Sometimes I step outside after work and I just can't believe I am working in such a beautiful, amazing place!  Today must of been 80 degrees out (in November!!!)! People were swimming in the ocean!  Since it was a short day, I decided to take a walk in search of this huge statue we can see from the bus every morning.  I found it, it's another temple.  Today was a good day and I'm so glad it's the weekend.  Not sure what exploring I'll do this weekend yet....
