The total timer

Hey all you PT folk. I'm not using a rate finder! (well, sometimes I am, but not that often) We have "total timers" which do all the math for you. Designed for a reading curriculum to count words per minute, but it works great for anything- as long as data is over 1 per minute. In fact, we do almost everything at a "total time" which is duration to completion then plug in the corrects and errors into the total timer, and you have your count per minute. We also don't always use floors (!) since the total timer gives you a rate, we just chart the corrects/errors. It's been a little hard to get use to. The kids love it because they can use it on themselves. This experience has really opened by eyes to different ways to use PT and the chart. Elizabeth is a big advocate for only taking data if it's going to tell you something and inform decisions, so we don't take data on everything- although Angela and I have been finding ways to take as much data as possible :)
