Big Buddha

Today I went to see the Big Buddha in Lantau Island.  It was a great experience and day. I shared a gonadal with a friendly Chinese family that offered me chocolate and asked me twice if I wanted them to take my picture (I declined).  I think they felt bad that I was traveling alone?  Anyways, it was a touristy thing to do- but I enjoyed the seeing the Buddhism culture up close.

Long Lines....

Going over the water was a little scary.  There were a bunch of people in the water collecting something.  Fish? Crabs?

The gondola goes right over a pretty busy hiking trail, which looked appealing but HOT (very little shade).

You can start to see the big Buddha in this picture (above) it's sticking out in the distance on a hill.

Then you arrive at the "village" which is super happy and touristy and there's bubble machines all over the place.

This is at the temple.  People were burning the biggest sticks of incense I've ever seen.

There are apparently a lot of wild cows on Lantau Island.
