Points for Hong Kong

Hong Kong gets points today because it is SO SAFE that you could literally leave your purse on the street and no one would take it.  Today when Angela and I got on the bus (our usual bus at our usual time) a woman got our attention and gave Angela her WALLET!  Apparently she had left it on the bus the morning before (and hadn't realized it was lost- she thought she left it at work).  This woman must of taken it home overnight knowing she would see Angela in the morning! And it was a woman neither of us recognized.  Angela and I pretty much stand out on our bus ride as the only Westerners- everyone else is Chinese or Filipino, so I think everyone on the bus knows who we are- and we have even made a handful of friends.  (our "bus buddies" as we call them)  There's something kind of nice about taking a bus with the same group of people every morning.  I actually enjoy the bus ride in the morning.  I kind of hate it on the way home because I'm tired and hungry and it takes over an hour...
So today was a good day and I was reminded again of how safe Hong Kong is, and how much I love that about being here.  Especially since I'm alone most of the time.
On another note, I found this game (Master Mind) while Heather and I were out shopping.  I used to play this game with Heather when I was a kid and always liked it.  I brought it to work and they kids have been enjoying it- the youngest was so proud when he (randomly) guessed the correct code on the 3rd try that he made me take a picture!
Tomorrow is Friday and Danielle is arriving!!!  A good weekend awaits!

  1. It sounds like Hong Kongers have built personal responsibility and caring for others into their society; two important traits that we in the United States seem to be shedding at a rapid pace.
