Introducing Isla Rain Stout

Day before Isla came- at 40 weeks

She's HERE!  Isla was born on May 14th at 3:44pm- 1 day after he due date!  Giving birth was certainly the hardest thing I've ever done, but overall it went about as well as I could have hoped for.  I had an amazing team- Adam and our doula, Holly, stayed with me the entire time and I felt very supported.  My midwife and the student midwife were also great!   I labored at home as long as I could stand it and headed to the hospital to find out I was half way there- 5 centimeters!  At the hospital I labored in a giant bath tub for 3 or 4 hours.  From arriving at the hospital until she was born was only about 6 hours, which is pretty lucky.  Pushing took 1 hour and 45 minutes and was exhausting but once someone finally brought a mirror over and I was able to see how close I was I pushed her out in the next 5 minutes.  No epidural or drugs- which was my goal and I did it. She came out crying and healthy and alert!  We spent 2 nights in the hospital and the nurses were all great.  I was really sore for the first few days but now that it's been a week I'm feeling a lot better.  Breastfeeding is going well and Isla is gaining weight.  The last few days have been filled with visitors, appointments and staying in bed breastfeeding and pumping.  Adam and I are doing good and getting used to the "new normal".  So far she's even been a pretty good sleeper- although it's too early to really know what is "normal".  She's just the sweetest cutest thing ever and I can't believe she is finally  here.  We are so in love with her!  I didn't take too many pictures at the hospital- and some are not appropriate to post, but here are a few.
