Visiting Macau
I took the ferry to Macau today. It's about an hour ferry ride away. I needed to leave the country so I could get a specific stamp on my way back in to make my visa official (well, almost) I still need an Hong Kong ID card. So many hoops!
Macau is sort of like a Chinese-Vegas. It has a ton of casinos and gambling, but I only saw those from the bus. I went downtown instead and walked around. Since Macau used to be Portuguese territory, it feels very European- lots of narrow winding streets. Explored some, went to the museum, got lost (had to ask a police officer to show me on my map where I was).... The ferry ride was really nice. The whole day trip was an ordeal so I wish I could of made a weekend trip out of it. I had to go through immigration 4 times- and each time was a long line. Getting into Macau took 1 hour and 20 minutes of standing in line, which is weird when you're by yourself and don't understand what any one around you is saying.
It was a busy weekend!
