Free Range Chickens

Well a little more free range that is....  We built a make shift fence around the place we want to have a garden next summer and are letting the chickens scratch up the dirt and grass for us.  Mavis escaped about 10 times before we cut her off and put her back in the coop.  Luckily we made some progress on the big (outer) fence and should have that up and ready maybe even this coming weekend so the chickens can really roam!

Memorial Day Weekend: Hang out with Babies

Had a great weekend!  I went down to Portland for Saturday night to celebrate mother's day with my parents.  (Adam and I had to cancel our camping plans because his back is not doing well....) Then on Monday I got to babysit Finn and then went out for coffee with Jenny and Callie.   Finn is talking more and more and it's super cute (ball, water, outside, etc.)  I took today (Tuesday) off of work thinking we'd be camping, but it's going to be a yard work day instead- maybe even make some progress on the fence!

Another roof project

Another roof project involving me and a snow shovel.  It had been YEARS since this roof had been cleared off, but now we can patch up the leaks.  This is the roof to the chicken coop and dog pen so we don't want it leaking!

Visiting Portland

Sadie skypes with Jen

Shopping at the nursery

Had a great time in Portland Sunday and Monday!  Sadie couldn't be any cuter and she is so happy. You can make her smile now which is fun!  I can't believe she is already 2 months old!  Time flies.  Seth graduated law school and hasn't started Bar classes yet so he is able to really relax for the month of May.  Hannah and I did some shopping for plants and she had a bunch of plants to give me so I drove home with my entire car filled with plants for my garden.  Can't wait to get them in the ground!

Betsy and David come to visit

Adam's mom and her boyfriend had a short visit last week (2 nights).  They had just finished riding Adam's uncle's boat all the way up to Alaska and flew back to Seattle to spend some time with us before returning to Maine.  It was nice to show them the house and do the usual Olympia stuff.

Meet the Ladies!

Meet Penelope (the black and white one), Mavis (the brown one) and Gertie (the yellow one).  We have re-homed these 3 chickens from a friend of ours who is moving into an apartment.  Adam and Jonah finished the coop on Saturday and we picked them up on Sunday.  Another busy weekend!  For now they are pretty self sufficient in the coop, but after the fence is up we'll let them out during the day.  Ezra doesn't know what to think.  We've already gotten 2 eggs and I ate one this morning (delicious).
