Quarantine update

How's your quarantine going?  We're on day 15 (or 16?).  I have left the house twice: once to pick up groceries, but stayed in my car, and once for a much needed family walk on the trail (we only saw 2 people the whole walk).  Our whole family has been sick with a cough.  Isla had a fever too, but she was the only one.  She didn't qualify for a test, so who knows if we all have Corona or not.... Therefore, we got a head start on the staying home and we're limiting contact with everyone.  Today we're having groceries delivered.  Adam has done a little bit of work but has been careful.  The kids are handling it well.  We're thankful for our house and property!  We're calling friends a lot.  I've been baking and gardening and reading books.  Some napping.  I got laid off on Monday, the whole company did, so I have lots of free time!  I'm anxious about the state of our economy and what going back to work will look like as far as pay.  I'm applying for unemployment and am thankful for that option.  Isla has been a champ and seems totally oblivious to the world falling apart.  (As long as I keep baking dessert!)  Adam and I thinking about how to be more sustainable, we are going to start planting our garden from seeds and expanding our raised beds.  Thinking about a new batch of chickens soon.  You can't help but panic a little bit when the stores are running out of specific things.  We're rationing TP (hiding from Isla who is a chronic over-user of TP), I am putting 1 bundle out at a time for her! Overall we're doing good.  It's been an emotional roller coaster but I'm moving towards acceptance.  I'm trying to limit my time reading the news.  Trying to stay present and enjoy this bonus time with my kids.  We'll probably look back at this time with fondness and longing someday.

Countdown to Kindergarten

Last weekend we got to register for KINDERGARTEN!
How is that happening already!?

Weekend Getaway: Government Camp, Mt.Hood

My parents very generously rented a house in the mountains last weekend for a family snow trip!  Once I got over the anxiety of the driving in the snow, we had a great time.  I underestimated the kiddos who got super into inter-tubing and were all great sports.  The bunk-beds were also a highlight! It was great get some cuddle time in with baby Toby who is now smiling :)
