Adam and I have been talking about this cooking camping trip for almost a year now!  We finally decided what to make and then we practiced- I made homemade corn tortillas and Adam was in charge of the slow cooked pork and pickled carrots.  It turned out really well and we actually came in first place- but only by 2 points, as the beef sous-vide was also really really amazing!  The judging is based on: taste, timeliness and presentation- and it is taken quite seriously.
It was a fun weekend and as the winners of the competition we are now in charge or organizing the event next year and being judges. 

Fourth of July

We had a fun time at Callie and Nuri's hanging out with the babies and eating yummy BBQ!  Chris and Tricia's baby, Owen is just 2 months younger than Finn,but they are both about the same height.  Both babies really enjoyed this "entertainment center" that Hannah gave Callie.

One of my favorite childhood photos from 1984.... This morning I'm doing some baking and cleaning while Adam is at work.  This afternoon we're headed to Callie and Nuri's for a 4th of July BBQ and tomorrow we're headed off to the annual (but my first time) "Cook Off" camping weekend- involving a cooking competition where you can not use any gas or electricity.  Adam and I are entering with slow cooked pork tacos with homemade corn tortillas....
Happy to have a 4 day weekend!

Backpacking Staircase (Olympic National Park)

What an amazing backpacking trip we had Saturday night (Danielle, Hannah and I went)!  We hiked in about 2 miles to set up camp, then went on a day hike.  We saw tons of wildlife including a beaver and the 4 mountain goats that came right up to our campsite. The bridge is finally fixed at Staircase too!  We had great weather and it was also (randomly) a get in free day to the National Park- so we lucked out all around.

Tug Boat Annies

Had a nice outside dinner with Callie, Nuri, Finn and Hannah on Friday night.  Finn did really good at the restaurant and it was nice to eat outside!  Hello Summer!
