Capitol Lake

Not sure what is up with Capitol Lake but it is looking BAD.  The New Zealand Mud Snails have been a problem for a while now (one sign said since 2009) but all that algae is new....  Feeling bad for the ducks and birds!

Olympia Japanese Garden

This little gem of a park is hidden downtown right off a busy road.  It's small but cute and free and I can't believe I have never been here before!

Bench Project

After

Before
I didn't exactly realize how much work painting the bench would be (scrapping and sanding), but it sure looks a lot better!  Nice to have some bright colors outside!  Adam got this bench for free from a client and we got the paint for cheap at the Re-Store!

Backpacking in Mt. Rainer National Park

Jenny, John and I backpacked for a 1 night trip on Friday.  We hiked to Upper Palisades Lake (3.5 miles) and day hiked to Hidden Lake.  I could not believe how amazing the wild flowers were!  It was also perfect weather and we lucked out by getting a permit to camp (there were only 2 sites at Upper Palisades and we got the last one)!  Everything about this trip was incredible and it definitely goes in the books as one of the top 5 places I've backpacked.  It made me really appreciate being so close to Mt. Rainer National Park, even though I hardly go up there.  It was also Jenny and John's first backpacking trip together!

South Bay Pub and Eatery

We've been meaning to check out this new pub which is a short bike or car ride from our house and I have to say, it was pretty good.  Steak and baked potatoes for $7!

Meeting Baby Lily

A couple weeks ago we got to meet Jesse and Meg's 2 month old baby!  She is adorable and they all seem to be doing great!

A lazy Sunday

Highlights of the day: swimming at Munn Lake, grilled peaches with ice-cream and hanging out around our new (Craigslist) patio set!  Summer is good!
