Tea Appreciation Class
I finally made it to Christopher's tea appreciation class that he gives 3 times a week (for free) at the Lock Cha Tea House in Hong Kong Park. He did an excellent job and I learned a lot about tea and the Chinese tea ceremony and got to try 5 different types of tea: green, red, greenish and 2 oolongs. The tea class is part of the Hong Kong "cultural kaleidoscope" program put on by the tourism board- which is how I also took the Chinese Opera Appreciation class and the Junk Boat ride. Christopher went to the free tea class last year and got hooked on tea and started taking private lessons from the tea shop so he could learn more. He became friends with some of the people who work there and eventually they offered him a job- since these classes are given in English, it works out for everyone because they were looking for someone with better English skills to give the class. Christopher is really passionate about tea and it was great to see him give the class and it's also neat that he found something to focus on while he's in Hong Kong.
