Backpacking in Mt. Rainer National Park
Jenny, John and I backpacked for a 1 night trip on Friday. We hiked to Upper Palisades Lake (3.5 miles) and day hiked to Hidden Lake. I could not believe how amazing the wild flowers were! It was also perfect weather and we lucked out by getting a permit to camp (there were only 2 sites at Upper Palisades and we got the last one)! Everything about this trip was incredible and it definitely goes in the books as one of the top 5 places I've backpacked. It made me really appreciate being so close to Mt. Rainer National Park, even though I hardly go up there. It was also Jenny and John's first backpacking trip together!

Palisades is one of our favorite hikes! So glad you got to camp up there. We've hiked it several times but have never seen the wildflowers that amazing--lucky you. Last time we were up there we cut it short and went to Hidden Lake, so we've seen that too. Beautiful!! If only Kevin's foot were better, we'd have hiked on the Mountain somewhere this month. Next year for sure.
